Live recording from a mic into a PC for baglamas?

I have recently started playing the baglama instrument. ( Greek Version) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bouzouki#Greek_baglama.

I would like to record my first attempts into a PC and then use software to add other instruments. You may treat baglamas as a classical guitar that has no interfaces at all. I will have to use a microphone to sample in my living room the audio into the either my pc’s sound card and then software to create .wav files. My questions are :

1) What microphone do you suggest and why ?
2) What software do you use to sample live instruments ?
3) Which software do you suggest for effects and additive instruments, preferably something that would have a large bank of samples.

At the moment I just used a plain microphone with my laptop to create a wav. The results were not bad but there was noise in the background and I believe that this method does not reveal the true potential of the instruments capabilities.

Thank you.

cool edits as good as any for recording also a program like fruty loops is pretty good once you’ve recorded on cool edit you can put it into fruity loops then add to it for example record another instrument and add that to your recording so they play together it has built in sounds so you can add drums things like that also if you have any sounds like samples or whatever on cd you can put them in with cool edit if you put a full song in there you can take one piece out edit loop and sample that in your song as for the mic im not really well up on that although you will want it as close to your instrument as you can
