Would it be easy for me to learn to play classical guitar?

I already know how to play steel string acoustic, so would it be easy to pick up nylon string classical guitar?

I agree with the first answer.. you need to learn finger picking and you need to learn where EVERY NOTE is located on the fret board.

Personally, I prefer the sound of a classical guitar. I play a TAYLOR NS34ce in my shows and enjoy it much more than hammering away on the D-18 MARTIN.

If you REALLY want to do classical guitar, then look at the TAYLOR guitars.. they have the narrowest neck of any classical guitar.. barely thicker at the nut than a steel string acoustic.. so there is very little difference in playing them.. which is important if you are switching back and forth during a show.

that depends if you can play "finger style" (or what ever you would call it). Some differencs between the two are: With a classical guitar the frests are wider and the fretboard (vertically) is longer too. Most classical guitarists play with thier nails or artificial ones for volume and tone. Classical guitar is usually played with a foot stool or some sort of prop.
But as to your original question, It depends on the style you play right now because if you only strum chords it might not help you alot on a clasical guitar. You may also want to learn how to read sheet music (it will become easier than tabs).
Though if your familiar with steel string it will most likely be easier as opposed to someone who is just starting out.

If you want to learn correctly get a CG (class. Guitar) teacher or if you cant afford one the best book/video combo i have ever seen on the subject is "Pumping Nylon " by Scott Tenant. It is amazing i highly recomend. "Delcamp.net" is a good Forum/resource also.

    A short answer.
It should be easy if you read music. There are a number of techniques that you will need to learn, but nothing extremely difficult.
    Go for it.
