bass guitar, fingering question?

i got my bass recently, im a classical guitarist, i use four fingers to play the classical guitar, and i use the thumb alot.. and after looking for some videos on youtube on how to play the bass, i saw the 2 fingers method.. but videos didnt mention anything about the thumb, while i saw some bassists using it.. so, my question is, when to use the thumb? can i use it when i want? i have a song that has a repetitive pattern of notes on the E string and the G string.. and i find it stupid to use the two fingers instead of using the thumb, plus it makes it easier to mute while using the thumb.. so can someone enlighten me? lol thanx in advance..

Im a bass guitarist and im going to tell you what almost no one else will….Do what feels comfortable to you. I dont personally use my thumb but if it helps you play do it! About the muting with two fingers though i use my hand thats on the fretboard to mute the strings.
