how am i supposed to learn classical guitar without a teacher?

my mom doesn’t know anything about music and then so she was being cheap and then just bought me a classical guitar and i can’t get into lessons. I get so frustrated when i’m "learning" it through a dvd and want to smash it against the wall. it’s so damn hard lol

I don’t know if I can totally answer your question, but being fairly new at guitar and poor to take lessons, I started learning the old fashioned way, by guitar Lesson Books. The best thing you can do for yourself in beginning guitar is to "LEARN THE CHORDS"! When you learn and get so you can change those chords all around and play them easily in any arrangement, you can play any song there is. Start with just learning the first three Chords in the book, learn those 3 as I just told you, (easily change them) and you can not only PLAY many songs, but can begin to write your own music! There are many songs out there that consist of only 3 or 4 chords. Videos are great, but you need to start at the beginning. You don’t even have to buy a book if you have a computer you can downloads all kinds of chords from the internet for free. You need to learn chords so you are capable of interpreting the songs those guys play. And true, you will continue to get frustrated, but if you really love music and you REALLY WANNA JAM, all the hard work is worth it. Even and/or especially a classical guitar can put out a whole bunch of AWSUM music! Just practice, practice, practice those chords until you"ve learned at least "some" from every chord type, etc. Good luck to ya! KEEP PLAYING and when it gets too frustrating, walk away from it for a while.

Yeah, I feel for you, man. It’s pretty much impossible to get anywhere in classical guitar without a physical teacher. You can still learn, but there’s only so far you can go. Good luck.

I know how you feel. I don’t play guitar, I play piano, and although I’ve always had lessons, my parents always acted like it was a waste of money…. and that I could probably teach myself. Many of my friends are forced to take piano lessons, but my parents always threaten to take piano lessons away if I don’t do well in school, misbehave, etc, as a punishment haha!
Try finding different books and videos on guitar. Learning an instrument is frustrating at first, but you’ll be rewarded with beautiful music…. Youtube is a great free resource. Join some guitar forums online as well.
Maybe if you show that you’re committed your mom will change her mind. Why don’t you offer to pay for a part of your lessons? Or do more chores? Make some kind of deal with your mom.
